Estonian Ambassador to Slovakia presents credentials

Estonia’s new Ambassador to Slovakia Toomas Kukk presented his credentials to President Andrej Kiska in Bratislava. The Ambassador resides in Vienna.

After the ceremony, Ambassador Kukk and President Kiska discussed Estonia-Slovakia relations and opportunities to develop cooperation between the two countries further. “Slovakia is Estonia’s important partner and ally in the EU and NATO. We highly appreciate Slovakia’s contribution to strengthening the security of the Baltic region and Slovakia’s membership in the Tallinn-based NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence,” Kukk said.

The meeting also focused on topical foreign policy issues and Slovakia’s upcoming OSCE Chairmanship.

Ambassador Toomas Kukk has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1995. He has served in the state protocol, external economic and political departments of the ministry, and at the Estonian embassy in Warsaw. He has worked as the deputy permanent representative of Estonia to NATO and as the head of the second division of the department of European affairs. From 2009-2011, Kukk was the foreign policy adviser to the Prime Minister of Estonia. From 2011-2012 he was the Estonian Ambassador in Sofia, and from 2012-2016 in Vilnius, from where he also continued as the Estonian Ambassador to Bulgaria. Before assuming his current position, Kukk was the head of Northern and Central European division of the department of European Affairs.

Ambassador Toomas Kukk is currently Estonia’s Ambassador to Austria, Switzerland, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations Office at Vienna, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
