Ambassador Merle Pajula joined the Foreign Service in 1992. She has served as a diplomat in the Press and Information department and the department of European Affairs. From 2010–2014, she was the director of the policy planning division of the MFA. Merle Pajula served as the Permanent Representative of Estonia to the United Nations from 2000-2004 and was appointed as the Ambassador to Finland from 2006-2010 and to Sweden from 2015-2019. Before assuming her current position, she worked as the head of the foreign relations department of the Chancellery of the Estonian Parliament.
Merle Pajula is currently Estonia’s Ambassador to Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations Office at Vienna and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
