Estonia and Austria strengthen cooperation on aviation security

Estonian Interior Minister Igor Taro and Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner signed a cooperation memorandum in Tallinn to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in ensuring civil aviation security.

The agreement allows for additional security measures, including the use of armed security personnel on Tallinn–Vienna flights, if necessary, to ensure the safety of passengers and flight crews.

The ministers also discussed hybrid threats originating from Russia and the European security situation. Today, 2 September, the ministers will visit the Narva border crossing and the external border of Estonia and the European Union.
